How Custom Orders Work

CUSTOM FABRICATION

How Custom Orders Work

Start with a free quote or, if you have a defined project and are ready to move forward, pay a project deposit online. Either way, we confirm scope, full pricing and scheduling before fabrication.

1. Tell us about your project

Visit Request a Free Quote or choose a project deposit and describe what you want to make. Helpful information includes dimensions, desired material and finish, quantity, target date, shipping location, and existing artwork or files.

2. We review the design and requirements

We'll check whether the project is practical for our equipment, which process fits the work, and what information is still needed. We may suggest changes that improve fabrication or help control costs.

3. We prepare a quote

Your quote outlines the agreed scope, materials, expected work and pricing. For complex projects, design or prototyping may be quoted separately. If you already paid a deposit, we credit it to the final agreed project total. Otherwise we confirm any required deposit and payment arrangements before starting work.

4. We fabricate and finish

Depending on the project, work may include 3D printing, laser cutting, woodwork, electronic assembly, metal finishing, painting or a combination of processes. Any significant design changes are discussed before they're added to the scope.

5. Final review and delivery

We confirm final details and arrange shipping or another agreed delivery method. Shipping costs, timelines and any special handling depend on the finished project.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send an STL, SVG or other design file?

Yes. Send a short description through our contact page. Files and larger reference images can be sent by email to admin@rotatingfixationstudios.com. Helpful formats include STL, 3MF, SVG, DXF and common image formats.

Can you design something from scratch?

We take on original design and prototyping work when the requirements fit our capabilities. Design time is considered separately from fabrication when appropriate.

Do you accept one-off projects?

Yes. We work on single commissions, prototypes, personalized items and small production runs.

Can I order several copies of a design?

Yes. Include your intended quantity when requesting a quote; repeatability, tooling and finishing influence batch pricing.

Do you make electronics and unusual mixed-media projects?

Yes. Projects can combine microcontrollers, sensors, lighting, 3D prints, engraving, woodworking and decorative metal finishes. Electrical and functional specifications are evaluated during quoting.

How do artist collaborations work?

We can discuss special collectible runs with independent designers and creators. Edition size, rights to the design, pricing, royalties, finishing and fulfillment are agreed in writing before a release. Read about partnerships.

How long does a commission take?

Turnaround depends on the design, approval, materials, queue and fabrication complexity. We discuss an estimated schedule for the specific project rather than advertising one universal lead time.

Are the photographed examples available for immediate purchase?

Some listings show completed custom projects and prototype examples rather than ready-to-ship inventory. Listings marked Request a Quote are made to order. Standard checkout appears only on products that have defined purchase options.

Can I request a particular metal finish?

Copper electroforming and specialty metal finishing options can be discussed. The substrate, size, shape and required finish determine what's feasible.
